Welcoming the news, Trevor Ivory, who has been campaigning to save the site for the community said, “This is wonderful news as it means that the Town Council can continue to look at whether it can purchase the site to keep it as a community facility for Holt. If the planning permission had been granted the Town Council would have been priced out of the market.” “This is not the end of the story as the toilets are still shut and the site is still vacant, but it is an important milestone that has been brought about thanks to the hard work of many people in Holt and I am grateful to them all, especially to the Town Council.” Local campaigner Maggie Prior was at the meeting and said, “It was amazing, there were more than a hundred members of the public in the Council offices to show their opposition to the proposals and I am sure that this made a big difference.” |
