| Ivory accuses Norfolk PCT of "failing in its duty" to local people |

In a letter to the PCT’s Chief Executive, Trevor Ivory has raised serious concerns about the way that the PCT has handled its decision to close the Lascelles Ward and has demanded that a special open board meeting is held in Holt to take the final decision. The PCT is proposing to hold the board meeting more than thirty-five miles away in Kings Lynn, which will prevent many of those most affected by the decision, including staff and patients, from being present.“This whole sorry saga has been a disaster from the start and the PCT has just one more chance to show that it cares what the people of Holt and the surrounding area think. Their incompetence has only been matched by their arrogance and it is time that the PCT’s Board came out of hiding and faced local people,” said Mr Ivory. “The decision to close Lascelles Ward is clearly wrong. We need more community hospital beds, not less – as was so clearly proved by the disgraceful news reports of queues of nine ambulances outside the N&N early this year unable to transfer their patients because of the bed blocking crisis. We need community hospital beds so that we can move patients on from the N&N and our other acute hospitals and free up the specialist beds for those who need them.” Mr Ivory has written to the Chief Executive demanding that a special board meeting be held in Holt to allow the public to see what is going on. He also asked for answers to important questions that he said were left unanswered at the recent public meeting. |
