By-election landslide for Prior
Monday, 11 August 2008

church_street_toilets_ti__mp.jpgMaggie Prior has thanked the people of Holt for their overwhelming support in the Town Council by-election last week. Maggie came top of the poll with more than 60% of the vote.

Maggie said, “I am overwhelmed by the support that people have given to my campaign and I am honoured that people have put their trust in me to represent them. I am looking forward to working with the Town Council to tackle the issues that we face: the future of the Church Street toilets, the need for affordable housing in the town, care for the elderly and the future of Kelling Hospital.”

“I should like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for me, but I also want to stress that I shall represent everyone, whatever their political views.”

Maggie has not wasted any time getting stuck into her new role. At her first Council meeting on Monday evening she agreed to represent the Council and local people on the Holt Medical Practice Patients’ Committee.

Trevor Ivory, the Conservative Spokesman for North Norfolk, was among the first to congratulate Maggie, “I am delighted that Holt has chosen Maggie. She will work hard for the town and will get things done.”
